Many of us have been staying close to home these past weeks, undoubtedly storing up lots of creativity. Put your creativity to work in not just one writing contest, but in a series of five writing contests, over the next several months.
You may enter one or all five contests. Entries are short—400 words or less. The winner of each contest will receive $50 USD, and, from those five winners, judges will award a grand prize of $150 to the top submission overall.
Writing prompts for each contest deadline:
July 31: Write a short parable with the theme of hope.
August 31: What Scripture passage has gained special meaning for you during the global pandemic, and why.
September 30: Write a psalm or poem that expresses to God your pain over injustice, racism, violence, poverty or some other challenge in your country and your cry for His intervention.
October 31: Whom in the Bible (other than Jesus) would you like to meet for dinner, and what would you talk about? You may choose to create a script if you like.
November 30: “When I see how Christians act, I don’t want to become one,” someone says. Write a letter in response.
Word count limit: 400 words maximum. Longer entries will be disqualified.
Original entries: You may submit one entry per contest. Your entry must not have been previously published anywhere in print or online except your personal social media account(s) and/or personal blog. All entries are final—no revisions are accepted.

Language: Entries must be submitted in English. You may write the original in another language and have it translated. If you do so, please name your translator. Or, you may choose to enter our parallel Spanish writing contests. Para quienes escriben en español, hay un concurso paralelo.
Bio: Please include a short bio of 50 words or less and tell us your country. This is not included in your word count for the entry.

Deadline: Entries must be received by midnight of each deadline, Central Daylight Time, to be considered for prizes.
