God can have a voice

Last month eight men and women gathered in a secluded hotel for their first-ever clandestine Christian writer workshop. Christianity is not recognized in this Asian nation, and the consequences of following Jesus are daunting. Faith can land believers in prison, exclude them from family and community, and deprive them of employment.

Although sharing the Gospel is forbidden, our MAI trainer helped these writers recognize their calling. Through their written words, “God can have a voice” in this nation. One woman penned this short “writer’s testimony” at the end of our workshop.

Why I Want to Write

I want to write because that is the thing I do best.
I want to write because I believe writing is God’s calling for me.
I want to write because I am in my element when I write.
I want to write because I believe in the power of the pen.
I want to write because I believe that words can change lives and people.
I want to write because words are magic and eternal.
I want to write because I believe God has given me the talent.
I want to write because I never feel better than after pouring out my heart in paper.
I want to write because I believe in art.
I want to write because I believe God created literature as a medium to speak to His
people.
I want to write because I feel God can use me and my writings to express Himself.
I want to write so that I can be a witness to God’s transforming grace.
I want to write because as much as it would touch the readers, it would benefit me as
well.
I want to write so that God’s Word can be set in eternity and the walls of time.
I want to write so that God can have A Voice.

Pray for these eight writers, that the Lord will give them courage and discipline to write for Him.
Pray that the “Word Who Became Flesh” will touch readers through their words.

Thank you for helping MAI to satisfy global hunger for the written word. We wish you a blessed Christmas!
